The main goal of this research project is to develop better methods for recognizing when newborns are suffering pain.
It has been reported in medical journals that health care professionals have difficulty determining when a newborn is experiencing pain. Unlike adults or children, newborns cannot tell others what they are feeling. Pain often indicates a medical problem. Since the experience of prolonged pain may lead to psychological and behavioral deficits, it is critical we know when a newborn is experiencing pain. Your participation in this project will help us develop better methods for assessing newborn pain.
We will ask you to complete three surveys:
It will take you 78 minutes to complete the video assessment survey. You do not have to complete it in one sitting. You can take several weeks to complete the video survey. If you become tired, stop and come back at a later time. The assessment will resume where you left off.
If you are participating in this project for extra credit for a class, you can select your professor's name when you sign up.
